Chandigarh, Nov. 5 -- An elderly woman riding a scooter with her husband was killed in a road accident near the Sector-43 bus stand on Tuesday evening after a Himachal Roadways bus rammed into their two-wheeler. The deceased has been identified as Sheela Peter, a resident of Sector-79, Mohali. Her husband, Peter Daniel, narrowly escaped with minor injuries. According to police, the accident took place around 4.30 pm when the couple was returning home from Sector-22 on their Activa scooter. As they reached the Sector-43 bus stand intersection, a Himachal Roadways bus bound for Nagrota allegedly hit their scooter with great force, throwing both riders onto the road. The couple was rushed to the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, where doctors declared her brought dead. Police have seized the Himachal Roadways bus involved in the accident and arrested the driver. The case has been registered at Sector-36 police station under charges of rash driving and causing death by negligence....
