Woman killed, relative died by suicide: police
Chandigarh, Feb. 28 -- A probe into the death of a 27-year-old woman and her 24-year-old brother-in-law in Butrela village of Sector 41, initially suspected to be suicide by both, has revealed that the woman was murdered by the man who later hangled himself, police officials said. The postmortem report has confirmed that the woman was strangled to death, they said.
The postmortem report pointed to marks on woman's neck. Investigators said the victim's brother-in-law allegedly attempted to sexually assault her but got panicked when she resisted. The bodies were handed over to the family after the postmortem examination on Friday. The Sector 39 police have registered a murder case against the deceased man.
The woman's two minor children were at home and her husband was out of station for work at the time of the incident. He reached the house around 1.30 pm on Thursday. As he spotted the woman's body in bed and the man hanging, he immediately informed the police officials. Cops shifted the bodies for a postmortem examination.
The victim and assailant hailed from Bijnor and had been living in their rented house in Butrela for nearly 15 years. The victim's husband works as an AC repair technician. He had gone to his native village for getting constructed a house at the time of the crime. htc...
