India, Dec. 14 -- Chandigarh is all set to celebrate the birth centenary of pioneering actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor with a grand musical bonanza on Sunday (December 14). The programme will be presented by Vibrations Musical Group, headed by singer and organiser Naresh Jacob, which has been active in the city for over 40 years. Announcing the show at Chandigarh's Tagore Theatre, Jacob said that Kapoor's contribution to both cinema and music was immense. "I grew up listening to his songs," he said, adding that the actor had a deep understanding of music and was instrumental in creating some of Hindi cinema's most memorable songs, written by lyricist Shailendra and composed by the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan. Tributes will also be paid to legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away last month. The show's music will be under the baton of the city's renowned music director Veval Sharma. The show will feature several iconic songs from Raj Kapoor's films, including Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum and Pyar Hua Iqrar Hua, picturised on Raj Kapoor and Nargis during the 'golden era' of Indian cinema. Actor Mandakini, who will be the celebrity guest, will also share her memories of working with Kapoor, with whom she made her debut in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. The line-up of singers includes Geeta Bhardwaj from Himachal Pradesh and Deepesh Rahi from Fatehabad, Haryana....
