Wheel of goods train derails; no one hurt
Chandigarh, Oct. 15 -- The front wheel of a New Modified Goods (NMG) rake got derailed on Tuesday around 3.30 pm while it was being repositioned at the Chandigarh Railway Station.
The railway officials said that no member of the railway staff or passenger was injured during the incident. The incident happened when the track of NMG rake was being changed. A NMG rake is a type of railway wagon primarily used for transporting new vehicles, such as cars, from factories to distributors.
The incident took place when the shunting process was going on at Platform Number 6 towards the Ambala side. The NMG rake is scheduled to head towards Samastipur station from the Chandigarh station.
Senior divisional commercial manager Naveen said that only the front wheel of the train was derailed and things were brought under control in time.
"No one including the staff was injured during the incident. The incident happened during the shunting process. Whether any official's negligence or mistake was involved in the incident will be investigated," Naveen added....
