Rohtak, June 27 -- Tensions escalated at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, on Thursday as protesting students and varsity authorities remained at loggerheads. The authorities reportedly cut water supplies and asked students to vacate their hostels after the semester exams ended. Female students alleged that they were denied food in the mess and directed by the hostel warden to leave. Screenshots of a WhatsApp chat by Gangotri hostel's additional warden Nidhi Kamboj showed instructions that only postgraduates permitted to stay during summer break could remain. Undergraduates were told to vacate and return only to retrieve their luggage. With mess facilities closed, students prepared their own meals at the protest site. The students threatened to intensify their protest by shutting down the university entirely from July 2 if the government failed to provide a written assurance. Students pursuing MSc claimed they had been failed online despite exams concluding recently. Meanwhile, a varsity spokesperson maintained that vacating hostels after semester-end was routine practice. htc...
