Warring should have avoided making such statement, says Pargat
Jalandhar, Nov. 30 -- Days after Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring faced criticism for allegedly making "casteist remarks" against former Union minister Buta Singh, Congress MLA from Jalandhar Cantonment Pargat Singh has shown his disagreement with Warring's statement.
Talking to mediapersons at his residence, Pargat said even though such comments didn't have any impact on electoral results, Warring should have avoided making such statements in public during the Tarn Taran bypoll.
"Being a senior Congress leader, I would never endorse such statements," he said.
Expressing strong disapproval of the mock assembly sessions staged on Punjab's crucial issues, Pargat condemned the move as a "disgraceful trivialisation of the state's democratic institutions".
He said that organising a so-called assembly session with children in attendance was not only inappropriate but an insult to the sanctity of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. "The Aam Aadmi Party has turned serious matters of Punjab into a spectacle of mockery. Such acts reflect the alarming fall in the intellectual and moral standards of governance," he said.
"Today, assembly proceedings have been reduced to taunts and theatrics instead of meaningful debate on Punjab's pressing challenges. The voices of the Opposition are deliberately silenced, and accountability is being mocked," he stated.htc...
