Warehouse ravaged in morning blaze
Mohali, Nov. 30 -- An early morning fire destroyed a warehouse in Industrial Area Phase-8B, Mohali, on Saturday. The owner, Rahul Sharma, reported that the facility stored goods-including soap, detergent, and biscuits-which were supplied directly to shopkeepers.
The fire caused massive damage, with an estimate of goods worth over Rs.1.5 crore being destroyed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
According to Sharma, the fire initially started after 7 pm, prompting him to immediately inform the fire brigade. Teams managed to control the blaze by around 2 am.
However, the situation took a serious turn at 5 am when the caretaker reported that the fire had reignited. Sharma promptly returned and alerted the fire brigade again upon finding flames inside the warehouse. Approximately 15-20 fire tenders responded to the second alarm, and teams worked for several hours to bring the intensified fire under control.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the cause of the fire's reignition was likely cardboard stored inside the warehouse continuing to smoulder despite initial efforts to extinguish the blaze....
