Uttarkashi, Aug. 11 -- District magistrate Prashant Arya said on Sunday that the administration has begun a verification exercise to trace those unaccounted for as uncertainty continues over the number of people still missing in the aftermath of the August 5 cloudburst in district. "Administration teams are interviewing every rescued person to confirm the missing people," Arya told reporters in Uttarkashi. Another Dharali resident, Rakesh Panwar (42) who survived the flash floods, said the villagers have been cross-checking among themselves and concluded that seven residents of the village are still missing. "Over 50 to 70 labourers from Bihar, Nepal and nearby villages like Dhontri are also unaccounted for," he said. "We have been furnishing these details to the administration team, which is compiling the missing persons data in Dharali. My own brother, Mukesh Panwar, his wife Vijeta and their three-year-old son Anik are among the missing." Satendra Panwar, 49, said three labourers, two from Nepal and one from Pratap Nagar in Tehri district, who were working in his apple orchard and at the Kalp Kedar hotel have been missing since the day of the disaster. "I don't know what to tell their families, as there has been no sign of them or their bodies," he said. He estimated that more than 60 to 65 migrant workers from Bihar and Nepal, as well as several from nearby villages and Tehri district, are missing. He also claimed that two pilgrims, one of them from Rajasthan, who were staying at a local hotel, are missing....
