UP man arrested with illegal pistol in Kharar
MOHALI, May 1 -- Kharar police on Wednesday arrested a man from Uttar Pradesh for possessing a .315 bore pistol.
The accused has been identified as Dharmendra, a resident of Khurdanawa village in Bareilly district. Police apprehended Dharmendra from a checkpoint in Kharar. During interrogation, he claimed that he had come to Kharar to meet an acquaintance. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of the .315 bore pistol in his possession.
According to senior constable Harpreet Singh, an FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at City Kharar police station. Dharmendra was presented in Kharar court which remanded him to two days of police custody. The authorities are investigating how Dharmendra obtained the weapon and his potential connections to criminal gangs....
