UP-bound pvt bus seized, fined Rs.49k for violations
Panchkula, Oct. 19 -- Surajpur traffic police on Saturday challaned a Uttar Pradesh-bound private bus with Rs.49,500 for travelling without vehicle's insurance, fitness certificate, travel permit, and route-pass.
The bus, traveling from Baddi to Badaun (Uttar Pradesh), was intercepted by the police for detailed inspection. According to officials, the bus lacked essential safety provisions for passengers, and the driver failed to produce necessary documents, including the vehicle's insurance, fitness certificate, permit, and route-pass.
Given the blatant disregard for passenger safety and open violation of traffic rules, the bus was immediately impounded, and a challan of Rs.49,500 was issued.
DCP traffic Manpreet Singh Sudan said that the festive season sees increased congestion and travel, heightening the risk of accidents. Therefore, vehicles found operating without proper safety measures will not be allowed to ferry passengers.
