union to raise farmers' issues at haridwar convention
Haridwar, June 15 -- Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) will be holding its annual farmers convention (Kisan Mahasammelan) from June 15 to 17 in Haridwar, senior union office bearers said on Saturday. The three-day national farmers convention will be attended by senior leaders Naresh and Rajesh Tikait along with union representatives from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi Punjab and other states.
According to the Bharatiya Kisan Union's (Tikait) Garhwal division president, Sanjay Chaudhary, the three day mega convention will also focus majorly on issues and plight of farmers residing in Uttarakhand. "Farmers condition in Uttarakhand is a matter of concern.Despite double engine BJP led government,standard of living and rise in income of local farmers have taken a backseat.Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, though claim to be pro-farmers,infact they are least concerned about us,"said BKU(Tikait) Garhwal division president Sanjay Chaudhary.
Further warning Chaudhary said that if post mega convention of farmers within a week state government doesn't accept their demands, they would be "forced to stage agitation" and even block road to interim capital Dehradun, later....
