U19 WC: England beat Australia, enter final
New Delhi, Feb. 4 -- England beat holders Australia by 27 runs to enter the final of the U19 men's World Cup in Bulawayo. They will face India or Afghanistan, who play in the second semis on Wednesday.
In what turned out to be a batting contest between two captains, England's Thomas Rew (110 - 107b, 14x4, 1x6) took his team to 277/7 after electing to bat. Rew rallied England from 60/3 with a 135-run fourth wicket stand with Caleb Falconer (40).
During the chase, the left-handed Peake at No.4 got set and raised a 62-run third wicket stand with opener Nitesh Samuel (47 - 83b, 3x4, 1x6).
But wickets fell, and although Aryan Sharma (34 off 23) raised hopes, the 54-run stand ended with his miscue against off-spinner Farhan Ahmed, making it 207/8.
Brief scores: England 277/7 (Thomas Rew 110, Caleb Falconer 40) Australia 250 in 47.3 ovs (Oliver Peake 100, Nitesh Samuel 47). England won by 27 runs....
