Jalandhar, Nov. 11 -- Two youths were killed when heavy iron rods being carried on a mini truck fell on their two-wheeler near Mao Sahib village in Jalandhar's Phillaur on Sunday evening. The deceased have been identified as Sourav (17) and Yuvam (17), both residents of Nangal village of Jalandhar district. The incident occurred when the victims were on their way to visit a tailor to get their clothes stitched, police said. Bilga police station SHO Palwinder Singh said the mini truck, bearing registration number PB-08-EF-6529, was loaded with heavy rods and lost control due to which the ropes securing the iron rods broke and the loaded material fell on the two-wheeler being driven by the victims. "The victims received multiple injuries and were rushed to a local hospital, from where they were referred to a hospital in Ludhiana. Later, they succumbed to their injuries," the police said. The accused driver managed to flee, abandoning his vehicle at the spot. Police have registered a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving) and 125-A (endangering life or personal safety of others), and 325(5) (mischief) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita....
