India, June 11 -- B ritish singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran's latest pop single, Sapphire has been creating buzz - not just for its sound, but also for its unlikely collaboration with Indian musician Arijit Singh. In a recent Instagram post, Ed shared the story behind the track, revealing he was first captivated by Arijit's vocals on the 2013 hit Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2. "It left me spellbound," he wrote. The admiration soon turned into a musical partnership. Ed posted a video of the two exploring Arijit's hometown of Jiaganj in West Bengal and detailed how the collaboration came to be. "I got in touch and said, 'Whenever you want to sing together, I'm down.' He was playing in London, so I joined him as a guest and sang Perfect there," Ed wrote. That meeting led to him playing a demo of Sapphire for Arijit, and the two stayed in touch as "pen pals over email". Their creative journey continued during Ed's six-city India tour earlier this year, when Arijit invited him to Jiaganj to complete the song. "Arijit taught me Punjabi and how to pronounce it properly, and showed me the sitar. We then scooted around the village to see the sunset and moon. It was a proper core memory," the 34-year-old added. In a sweet surprise for fans, Ed revealed that a full Punjabi version of Sapphire - recorded during their time together - will drop in a few weeks. "Until then, I'll be drip-feeding fun videos from our time together. Enjoy!" htc...
