Mohali, Oct. 30 -- A 62-year-old pedestrian died after being hit by a canter truck near White Tower, Khanpur, on Monday night. The victim, Shakil, hailed from Uttar Pradesh. Police said he had come to Kharar to visit his family. On Monday, around 9.45 pm, he and his brother-in-law stepped out to buy groceries. As they were walking on the road, a speeding truck hit him from the side, leaving him critically injured. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Following the accident, police reached the spot and apprehended the driver, identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Himachal Pradesh.
