Trio held for minor's sexual assault in Gurugram as father moves SC
Gurugram, March 22 -- The Gurugram police on Saturday arrested three people, including two housemaids, for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl at their employer's residential complex in Sector 54. The action came less than 24 hours after the girl's father filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking further probe, alleging police inaction.
Investigators said the woman, who also cared for the victim, and her husband-the prime accused-hailed from Nadia in West Bengal, while the other woman was from Etah in Uttar Pradesh. Sandeep Turan, Gurugram police public relations officer, said all three lived in a slum cluster in Sector 55, Ghata. Turan stated that sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 137(2) (kidnapping from lawful guardianship) of the BNS were invoked. "Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) has been replaced with Section 10 (aggravated sexual assault), while Section 17 (abetment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act in the case has been retained," he said.

The case was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Friday by senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who requested an urgent hearing. "It is a horrific sexual assault on a four-year-old girl in Gurugram a month ago where the maid is involved. The child has recounted everything and the case has been sent to the magistrate under the Pocso Act, but to date, Gurugram police neither collected CCTV footage nor arrested a single person."
The CJI said, "We will list it on Monday," asking if the high court had been approached. Rohatgi replied, "In a case of this nature, a message should go from the highest court of the land. The father is an employee in Gurugram and when they approached me, I advised them to file a petition under Article 32 of the Constitution." Article 32 guarantees citizens the right to move the SC for enforcement of fundamental rights. The father filed a complaint on February 4, alleging the two maids and a male accomplice sexually assaulted the girl on the society's premises between December 2025 and January. An FIR was registered under Section 65(2) of BNS and sections 6 and 17 of the Pocso Act at Sector 53 PS....
