New Delhi, June 30 -- The Indian Railways on Sunday said it will advance the preparation of reservation charts from four hours to eight hours prior to a train's scheduled departure time, in a move aimed at providing passengers more clarity and time to make alternative travel arrangements in case their train tickets are not confirmed. "...The railway board has proposed preparing the reservation chart eight hours before the departure," a statement released by the Indian Railways said. For trains departing before 2pm, the charts will be prepared by 9pm a day prior, the statement said. "The railway minister [Ashwini Vaishnaw] agreed with this proposal and directed the board to start implementing this in phases..." it added. The Railways also said that it will introduce a modern passenger reservation system (PRS) by December 2025. ",,,It will allow over 1.5 lakh (150,000) ticket bookings per minute" it said.
