Top court revokes relief granted to CM Soren
Ranchi, Nov. 26 -- The Jharkhand high court on Tuesday revoked the interim relief granted to chief minister Hemant Soren, which had exempted him from appearance before an MP/MLA court in Ranchi in a case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
A bench of justice Anil Kumar Choudhary was hearing a petition filed by Soren, challenging an order of personal appearance issued by the MP/MLA court special judge. The ED had issued summons to Soren to appear before its office in connection with a money laundering case linked to the alleged Bargain circle land scam, which he never complied with.
"The state government requested time and requested an extension of the interim relief. The court categorically refused to grant the same. The court rejected the state government's request and revoked the previously issued interim order," a high court lawyer said.
"The court, vacating the interim order issued on December 4, 2024, directed the Ranchi MP/MLA court to continue the trial process and proceed with the case."...
