Tom Cruise to receive an honorary Oscar
India, June 19 -- Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is finally going to have an Oscar to his name, almost 35 years after his first nomination. He, along with choreographer-actor Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas, will receive an honorary Oscar at the annual Governors Awards, the Academy announced on Tuesday.
The ceremony will take place on November 16 this year in Los Angeles (USA), where singer Dolly Parton will also be awarded with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
"Tom's incredible commitment to our filmmaking community, to the theatrical experience, and to the stunts community has inspired us all," Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement.
Tom, 62, has received four Oscar nominations: twice for Best Actor for Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Jerry Maguire (1996), once for Supporting Actor for Magnolia (1999), and once as a producer for Best Picture for Top Gun: Maverick (2022).htc...
