Bhopal, May 2 -- The death of a tigress and her four cubs within 10 days in Madhya Pradesh's congested Kanha Tiger Reserve, one of India's most iconic tiger habitats, were due to Canine Distemper Virus, forest department officials said on Friday, adding that the preliminary reports have confirmed the same. A senior forest officer said, "Canine Distemper Virus has been confirmed. We have begun vaccinating dogs and sanitising forest water bodies and surrounding areas." Kanha reserve deputy field director Prakash Kumar Verma said, "Indications of the virus were found in tests at the School of Wildlife Forensics and Health in Jabalpur.
