Jalandhar, Dec. 23 -- Three women labourers were killed and five others injured after a steel frame rack collapsed at a tool manufacturing unit in Jalandhar's Dhogri village on Monday. The incident took place around 2 pm at the factory, Mac Choice, when a rack laden with 60-70 boxes of iron tools fell from a height of about 15-ft onto workers. The injured were rushed to a private hospital on Pathankot Road, where three women were declared brought dead. The deceased were identified as Chanchal Rani, 56, Simmi, 35, and Anita Devi, 36, all residents of Jalandhar. Five other women workers sustained injuries and are currently under medical observation. Senior superintendent of police Harvinder Singh Virk said police received information about the mishap after 5 pm, following which teams were rushed to the factory and the hospital. He said statements of the victims' relatives were being recorded and teams had been sent to check for possible safety lapses at the factory premises....
