This Diwali, it already feels like we are a family of three
India, Oct. 19 -- With a baby on the way, this Diwali feels unlike any other for actor-couple Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa. Adding to the joy are some career milestones too. "We are super excited. Firstly, the baby's coming, and our first production is also going to come up in a couple of months. We are editing our second film too. There is a lot happening," she tells us.
The couple announced their pregnancy in July, a 'source of light' in her year, as Patralekhaa describes it. When mentioned that this would be her and Raj's last Diwali before turning parents, she responds, "I don't feel like it's the two of us anymore because the baby is just right there, ready to arrive."
Amid the excitement of stepping into parenthood, the couple is also holding on to their festive traditions. The actor says, "Raj and I are quite spiritual. Since the time we got married, we have had a Diwali Puja every year. Raj also loves his mandir, as this is where he meditates. So, he cleans up the whole place. Sometimes the pandit ji comes, and sometimes even Raj has done the puja."
And talking about Diwali rituals definitely brings back memories of home for Patralekhaa. "Where I come from, Shillong (Meghalaya), my parents have a close-knit friends' group, and their children have been my friends growing up. So, just before Diwali began, every evening we would have a party. And that tradition still continues. Many of my friends go back just to celebrate this, but this year I couldn't, and I really miss it," she says....
