Ambala Cantt, July 28 -- In alignment with the national initiative by the ministry of health and family welfare, The SD Vidya School participated in the 'Hand Hygiene and Stop Diarrhoea Campaign'. The campaign was initiated as a vital step towards reducing the burden of childhood diarrhoea and aimed at creating awareness among students, teachers, and health workers regarding the importance of hygiene, sanitation, and the use of ORS and zinc. A demonstration session on hand hygiene and sanitation was held. Students of the toddlers' wing and 9 and 10 were taught correct handwashing techniques by the school health team in coordination with staff from the Civil Hospital. A poster-making contest was organised for classes 6 to 8, where students depicted the importance of personal hygiene and diarrhoea prevention through vibrant artwork. Hospitality Staff of the school was sensitised in two separate sessions on equipping them with effective strategies to manage and respond to diarrhoea-related cases during the monsoon season. The entire campaign was marked by participation from students, staff, and health experts, ensuring that the core messages reached both school and community levels. Director principal Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu, applauded the collective efforts of all participants and specially appreciated the dedication and enthusiasm of Manvi, Jayantika, Farhan, and Rachit of Class 10 for their active involvement in the demonstration.
