India, May 2 -- Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, known for Mr India (1987) and Bandit Queen (1994), on International Harry Potter Day, today, says his long-planned Indian equivalent of the fantasy action series is still very much alive and AI has added fuel to the plan. "In the explosive world of AI, it's easier to turn stories into visual ideas and magic," he says, adding "I am an obsessive storyteller, everything I observe becomes a story." Reflecting on Harry Potter, the 80-year-old adds, "The series had the same stunning influence on me as it did on the world. I thought why didn't we in India think of this? So I wrote my own very Indian version, drawn from the magical world I grew up in." He continues, "Our minds are full of magical ideas and potential. As a kid I saw the real world as magical illusions beyond what people call reality. That was my real world and probably still is."...
