Thar runs over cyclist, scooterist in Mohali; 1 killed, other critical
	
		
				Mohali, Oct. 31 -- A Thar driver ran over two people in Kansal village of Mohali district on Wednesday midnight. In the accident, cyclist Sahib Ram, a resident of UP died on the spot, while a scooter rider sustained serious injuries and was admitted to GMSH-16, Chandigarh.
The accused Thar driver, identified as Mukul Khatri, a lawyer and resident of Sukhna Enclave, Kansal, was arrested from the accident spot after being intercepted by the locals.
Police said the accused first hit a cow, after which he rammed into the cyclist and a Honda Activa rider.
Nayagaon SHO Satnam Singh said, "It was reported that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, but his medical examination did not confirm that. However, one more medical report is awaited. We have seized the Thar, bearing registration number HR10-AA-9900."
Following a complaint by the deceased's wife, Suman, a case under Sections 281, 105, 152(a), 325, 324(4) of the BNS, and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered....
