Temp soars to 41.3degC, but rain likely today
Chandigarh, May 30 -- The city's maximum temperature climbed to 41.3degC on Thursday, crossing the 40degC mark for the first time since May 20 when it was 41degC. But relief is around the corner as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain on Friday.
The maximum temperature rose from 38.9degC on Wednesday to 41.3degC on Thursday, 1.2 degree above normal. It was the fourth day this month when the maximum temperature crossed 40degC.
The hottest day this month was May 15, when the maximum temperature reached 41.7degC.
IMD officials said with an approaching Western Disturbance (WD), a slight rise in temperature is expected due to the change in wind patterns. WDs initially come with warmer winds in the region. However, the maximum temperature is likely to fall below 40degC again following rain on Friday.
The minimum temperature fell from 29degC on Wednesday to 27.7degC on Thursday, still 2 degrees above normal.htc...
