SANGRUR, Jan. 2 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau apprehended tehsildar Jagtar Singh, posted at Sangrur district, accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000. A VB spokesperson said an amount of Rs.1,45,000 was recovered during the search of the accused's house. "The arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Mehlan village in Sangrur district against Jagtar Singh and a clerk, Malvinder Singh, posted at the tehsil office in Sangrur," he said. He further added that the complainant alleged that he had approached the accused for executing the registry of purchased land. "Both accused demanded and received bribe money of Rs.30,000 for executing the registry of the land. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at the VB Police range, Patiala. Further investigation into this case is underway, and the co-accused will be arrested soon," the spokesperson added....
