TCS says no internal complaint received in Nashik BPO case
NASHIK, April 18 -- Four days after Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran announced a probe, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Friday said it had not received any complaints on its ethics or POSH channels regarding allegations of sexual harassment, religious coercion and other misconduct at its Nashik BPO.
"While detailed reviews are still underway, a preliminary review of the systems and records at the Nashik unit indicates that we have not received any complaints of the nature that are being alleged," CEO and MD K Krithivasan said in a statement on Friday.
The company clarified that Nida Khan, a process associate suspended on April 9, did not hold any leadership or HR role. "She is neither an HR manager nor responsible for recruitment," the statement said.
TCS said it has engaged Deloitte and law firm Trilegal as independent counsel to assist an internal probe led by president and COO Aarthi Subramanian. An oversight committee chaired by independent director Keki Mistry will review the findings.
HT had reported on Friday that 26-year-old Khan who had been portrayed as the absconding mastermind at the TCS-run BPO in Nashik, was in Mumbai where she is expecting her first child. Her role in the company was that of a tele-caller. She joined the BPO in December 2021, and is not among its senior employees, her family members told HT.
Meanwhile, Nashik police continued their search for Khan, who has been named in one of nine FIRs, including allegations of making objectionable remarks about a Hindu deity. Police said three teams have been deployed to trace her.
Khan's husband was briefly taken into custody for questioning.
Her lawyer Baba Sayyad said an anticipatory bail plea will be filed soon....
