Taylor Swift pulled into Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni legal battle
India, Sept. 14 -- Taylor Swift is once again at the centre of the legal clash between actor-director Justin Baldoni (41) and actor Blake Lively (38). According to court filings, Justin's legal team claims the pop star has 'agreed' to sit for a deposition - but only after October 20 - citing prior professional commitments related to the release of her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3, CNN reported. So, for the deposition to proceed, Judge Lewis J. Liman must first approve an extension, as all discovery was originally scheduled to close on September 30.
However, in a letter obtained by CNN, an attorney for Taylor stated that she had not agreed to be deposed and would only comply if her appearance was required by the court.
According to a USA Today report, Taylor's involvement in the case stems from her connection to the 2024 film It Ends With Us, directed by Justin and starring Blake, which licensed her song My Tears Ricochet (Folklore, 2020). Although the 35-year-old has consistently denied having any creative role in the production, Justin has previously argued that Blake leveraged her friendship with Taylor to influence the film. Court records also show that Blake identified Taylor as someone who may have knowledge of workplace-related conversations, prompting Justin's lawyers to pursue her testimony.
