Takht principles must be upheldfor forging SAD unity: Dhindsa
Sangrur, Dec. 23 -- Former finance minister, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, on Monday said that Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) is ready to join hands with Shiromani Akali Dal if all the principles of Akal Takht Sahib are followed.
Addressing the media at his residence in Sangrur, Dhindsa stated that all the leaders of SAD (Punar Surjit) want panthic unity. "But this unity can only happen in the light of the hukamnama," he said, denying rumours that Giani Harpreet Singh has resigned from the party.
He added that the Akali faction will soon approach the Centre regarding long-pending Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections. "If Centre does not hold elections soon, the party will start a stir under the leadership of party president Giani Harpreet Singh," Dhindsa said. Former president of the SGPC, Gobind Singh Longowal, stated the entire panth is well aware of Sukhbir Singh Badal's nature. "Badal's intention is not to strengthen Punjab or the Akali ideology, but rather to weaken the principles and traditions of the Akali Dal," he alleged....
