Ludhiana, Dec. 6 -- The political storm over an alleged leaked audio clip linked to the Patiala SSP intensified on Friday, with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal vowing that the party will launch protests and pursue legal recourse against thecops.
The Patiala police have denied the charges and stated that the viral audio clipwas allegedly generated using AI.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered under the Information Technology Act at the cyber cell police station after the SAD accused Patiala SSP Varun Sharma and other district cops of orchestrating a conspiracy to stop opposition candidates from filing nominations for the December 14 zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections, a charge dismissed by the Patiala police.
Speaking at Jhande village in Ludhiana, Sukhbir vowed to ensure that senior officers, including the director general of police (DGP), face consequences if they attempted to shield the SSP.
"If officers start dismantling democratic processes, the consequences will be disastrous," Sukhbir said, adding, "In the audio, it is clearly heard how officials are being directed to tilt the election in the government's favour."htc...
