Chandigarh, July 18 -- AKSIPS 41 Smart School celebrated Matdaan Parv on July 14. The young AKSIPIANS from Class 6 to 12, along with the faculty, participated in electing the new student council leaders. The democratic process mirrored the electoral system of our country, making it a valuable civic learning experience for the students. Two candidates- Arnav and Jasnoor from Class 12 contested for the post of head boy, while Pranvi, Priyanshi Garg, Priyanshi Thakur and Simar Kaur from Class 12 vied for the position of head girl. Each contestant had a unique symbol and presented their vision and agenda for the school, outlining how they intended to contribute if elected. Campaigning actively, they addressed the school during morning assemblies and visited classrooms to understand students' concerns and appeal for votes. On election day, students went to the polling rooms to cast their votes. Ballot papers bearing the symbols of the candidates were distributed to the students, enabling them to exercise their right to vote in a fair and democratic manner. To mark the significance of this civic duty, a black ink mark was applied on their left index fingers-an authentic touch to the voting process. After results, Jasnoor Singh was elected as the head boy and Simar Kaur elected as the head girl of the school.
