Storm-water drainage project: Mohali deputy mayorflags delay
Mohali, Dec. 9 -- Mohali deputy mayor Kuljeet Singh Bedi on Monday flagged the issue of delay in municipal corporation's (MC) storm-water drainage project, saying that the estimate of nearly Rs.7 crore for laying the storm-water system on the 100-feet road from Mataur to "N-Chowk" was stuck for the past several months due to pending technical approval.
"The area continues to face serious problems of rainwater accumulation due to lack of storm-water drainage during every rainfall in Phase 3B2, Phase 7, Mataur Chowk, Sector 70, Sector 71 and surrounding areas. But, the project has been stuck for the past several months due to pending technical approval. All mandatory corrections in the estimate - such as the re-survey of 15 acres of surface run-off coming from Chandigarh, the rainfall intensity for sizing the storm line, road gullies connectivity, design statement etc. - have already been clearly sent to the head office by the MC. Despite this, the chief engineer committee keeps returning the file every time with new objections due to which the project has remained stalled for the last five months without any progress," Bedi said.htc...
