State launches green highway initiative
Chandigarh, July 18 -- Forest and wildlife preservation minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Thursday announced the launch of a pilot project for the plantation of flowery saplings on both sides of highways.
The project will be initially implemented in Ropar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Sangrur, Pathankot and Amritsar districts. It envisages the planting of saplings at a distance of 500m on both the right and left sides of the highways in these districts.
