St Xavier's, Chd wins overall trophy in badminton tourney
Chandigarh, May 23 -- St Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-C, organised "5th Emily Memorial Badminton Tournament". Nine school teams from the tricity took part in this tournament.
The tournament was played under four categories on knock out basis. Notable performances and final results were as under:
In girls singles (final), Simerdeep Kaur of AKSIPS-41, Chandigarh beats Avineet Kaur of St Xavier's Chandigarh by 2-1 [ 21-18;15-21 & 21-19 ].
In girls doubles (final), Pari Khambra and Sehajpreet Kaur of MDAV- Chandigarh beats Tanvi Rohilla & Arshiya Negi of St. Xavier`s Panchkula by 2-0 [21-11;21-08].
In the boys tournamnet, in boys singles (final), Tejas Dewali of St Xavier's, Chandigarh beats Aayush Naithani of St Xavier's, Mohali by 2-0 [21-11;21-16].
In boys doubles (final), Aarav Chadda and Kartikey of St Xavier's, Chandigarh beat Samuel Shelly and Lakshay Rohilla of St Xavier's, Panchkula by 2-1 [21-11; 17-21& 21-13].
Overall trophy was won by host St Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-C, Chandigarh for their outstanding performance in all categories. Chandan S Patwal, additional principal, appreciated the spirit of each participant in this annual tournament.
He congratulated the winners and also thanked the sports department for the grand success of the event.
Ivorine Castellas, the principal, gave away the prizes to the winners and also honoured the coaches of various participating teams, who took part in this badminton tournament.
