Chandigarh, Dec. 5 -- Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said that a special session of the state assembly should be convened soon on the issue of Chandigarh. The leader of the Opposition in a press conference said that the BJP government has failed to protect Haryana's rights regarding Chandigarh and the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. "The BJP government has failed to acquire land for the new assembly building or get the state's legitimate share of water. BJP is also indecisive on the issue of Chandigarh," Hooda said. The Congress leader said the central government itself is unable to clarify whether Haryana and Punjab will continue to have a shared capital or whether Chandigarh will become a full-fledged Union territory. "All these issues should be discussed in the state assembly," he said. Hooda said the state government will also have to answer questions on the deaths of two basketball players. "The BJP government has completely ruined Haryana's sports infrastructure. The dilapidated condition of stadiums has led to the death of two promising players," he said....
