Panchkula, Nov. 4 -- A dedicated fast track court to exclusively hear cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was inaugurated at the Panchkula Court on Monday. On its first day, six cases were listed, including three for prosecution evidence. The court has been set up to expedite the disposal of pending and future POCSO cases, ensuring faster trials and timely justice for victims. Around 230 POCSO-related cases are currently pending, including sessions trials, bail applications, and criminal miscellaneous petitions. Previously, POCSO cases were handled by a court of the additional sessions judge, which also dealt with serious offenses such as murder, SC/ST Act violations, NDPS cases, and corruption. The new special court is expected to significantly reduce delays in child sexual abuse cases.htc...
