New Delhi, July 28 -- Shubhanshu Shukla's space journey and the success of Chandrayaan-3 have sparked a new wave of enthusiasm across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday as he called upon people to share ideas for the National Space Day celebrations on August 23. "The moment Shubhanshu landed safely back on Earth, people jumped with joy. A wave of happiness swept through every heart. The whole country was filled with pride," Modi said in the 124th episode of his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast. Launched on June 25, aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, the Axiom-4 mission concluded on July 15 after 18 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS). During the mission, held in collaboration with NASA, Axiom Space and ESA, Shukla and his crew carried out 60 experiments on medicine and agriculture among others. "I still remember when Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon in August 2023, a new atmosphere was created... Children now say, we will also go to Space; we will also land on the moon - we will become space scientists," he said. India will celebrate its second National Space Day on August 23, which commemorates the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Modi has asked citizens to share their suggestions on the NaMo app about how the day should be celebrated. Referring to the INSPIRE-MANAK Abhiyan -- a campaign to promote innovation among children. "So far, lakhs of children have joined, and this number has doubled after Chandrayaan-3." He added that there were fewer than 50 start-ups five years ago, but today, there are more than 200, just in the space sector. Shifting focus to India's cultural achievements, the PM hailed 12 Maratha forts' recognition as World Heritage Sites. "Each fort has a chapter of history attached to it. Every stone is a testimony to a historical event... Salher Fort, where the Mughals were defeated, Shivneri, where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born. A fort that is unbreachable for the enemy. Khanderi Fort is an amazing fort built in the middle of the sea." Calling the month of August the "month of revolution", Modi recalled many historical milestones of the month - the execution of Khudiram Bose in Muzaffarpur on August 11, 1908; the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak on August 1; the beginning of the Quit India Movement on August 8 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, and Independence Day on August 15....
