Chandigarh, Oct. 16 -- The Punjab Mandi Board launched a project worth Rs.24.42 crore to install solar power plants in mandis across Patiala, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, and Jalandhar districts. Board chairman Harchand Singh Barsat said the initiative is expected to save around Rs.8.33 crore annually in power costs. The project was recently inaugurated at Dana Mandi, Patiala.
In Patiala, 10 mandis will receive solar installations with a total capacity of 656 kilowatts, costing Rs.6.49 crore. Ludhiana will see installations of 757 kilowatts across 11 mandis. In Ferozepur, eight mandis will get 647-kilowatt capacity plants , while 11 mandis in Jalandhar will have a combined capacity of 794 kilowatts.HTC...
