India, Jan. 11 -- Actor Sivakarthikeyan has spoken about the certification challenges his film Parasakthi encountered before its theatrical release yesterday. "The Censor Board (Central Board of Film Certification) operates according to their own regulations and criteria. Our team's complete focus was on how we could implement the changes they suggested in a way that wouldn't affect the creativity of the film. We didn't have time to figure out why they suggested these changes," he told India Today. He further opened up on whether this delay ultimately proved to be a disadvantage. "We received the changes at the last minute. After that, we had to make the suggested changes and upload them to QUBE. Our main focus was to release the film as we were chasing a release date. We didn't have time to analyse whether it was an advantage or disadvantage," he added. A leaked censor list that circulated online showed that one of the words muted in the film was "golty", a colloquial term sometimes used in Tamil to refer to Telugu speakers or people from Andhra Pradesh, which sparked complaints from Telugu audiences on social media who called it derogatory. A section argued that the word is just Telugu in reverse as 'gu lu te'; while others said that the word has also often been used to describe a particular caste in the Telugu community as miserly. Social media users also called out filmmaker Sudha Kongara for including the word in the first place. "Calling the Telugu community 'golti' in the Tamil version, but shouting "Jai Telugu" in the Telugu version isn't art, it's blatant double standards and political hypocrisy," wrote one X user. htc...
