SIT gathers evidence from key accused in U'khand paper leak
Dehradun/Haldwani, Sept. 29 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level exam paper case gathered evidence from the accused Khalid's house in Haridwar's Laksar and the exam centre in Bahadurpur Jat, where he appeared in the exam on September 21.
The Uttarakhand government on September 24 announced the SIT under supervision of a retired high court judge to probe the UKSSSC paper leak case. Jaya Baloni, superintendent of police, Rishikesh, is the SIT chief.
Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajai Singh said, "The SIT on Saturday held a public dialogue with candidates and the general public at the Collectorate in Haridwar. The team briefed them on developments so far, responded to their queries, and received suggestions that will be examined and included in the probe report."
"The SIT had secured a warrant from the Uttarakhand High Court to search the house of accused Khalid. Evidence related to the examination was recovered from his residence. The team later inspected the examination centre at Bahadurpur Jat, where he appeared for the graduate level exam, questioned the staff on duty, and recorded their statements."
The police on September 24 arrested key accused, Khalid (35), who, while appearing in the exam centre, photographed pages of the question paper and sent them to his mobile phone, which was in possession of his sister Sabia, who subsequently transmitted them to Suman, an assistant professor in Tehri Garhwal. The solved answers were sent back to Khalid....
