Chandigarh, Jan. 10 -- With elections for the next mayor of the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) just three weeks away, the local leadership of the Aam Aadmi party held a meeting on Friday where party members and MC councillors unanimously voiced that they should contest the polls together with Congress as an 'adjustment'. Even after a public heated exchange of words between AAP party president Jarnail Singh and Congress president HS Lucky earlier this week, the local unit of AAP is still inclined towards joining hands with Congress for the upcoming polls. Lucky has already stated that the Congress is open to alliance with anyone to defeat the BJP. Currently in the MC house, the BJP has a strength of 18 councillors, while the AAP has 11 and Congress six alongwith one ex officio vote of MP. Despite not having a majority, it was the BJP that secured the mayor's post in 2022, 2023 and 2025. In January 2024, after a bungled mayoral poll, the Supreme Court had declared the AAP candidate as the winner which was the only time AAP was able to post its own mayor....
