Mohali, Dec. 9 -- Unidentified assailants opened fire at the SUV of a BJP worker in Phase 1 past Sunday midnight. CCTV footage showed a white Mahindra Scorpio driving through the residential street around 12.30 am. The attackers slowed down near the BJP worker's house, fired a shot at his Mahindra Thar's window and then used swords to vandalise the vehicle before fleeing. Police recovered a shell from the scene. Gurdeep Singh, the complainant, told police he primarily worked in the rental housing business and was also associated with the BJP. He discovered his vandalised car when he stepped out early in the morning to leave for the gym. ASI Devinder Pal Singh said police were verifying the sequence of events.
