SGPC team to probe 'religious conversion' of Sikhs in Pilibhit
AMRITSAR, May 25 -- Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami on Saturday expressed concern over reports of 'religious conversion' involving members of the Sikh community in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. "According to available information, families residing in villages along the India-Nepal border were allegedly misled under a web of ignorance and false promises, including pressure, monetary lures, and fraudulent assurances of medical treatment," Dhami said.
He said that the SGPC is sending a team of preachers led by the in-charge of the Sikh Mission in UP to investigate the situation.
"The team will submit a report to the SGPC," Dhami said urging the governments to take action against individuals or organisations that are found to be converting people through inducement....
