Seven Iron upset Captain's 18 in rain-hit golf league
Chandigarh, Oct. 8 -- Seven Iron caused a major upset in the Chandigarh Golf League, 2025, by defeating two-time defending champions Captain's 18 on a rain-affected day at Chandigarh golf club on Monday.
The Mulligans made a strong statement with a 5-2 win over the in-form Fairway Comets, while the Pirates of the Greens edged out Tee Birds 4-3 in another match disrupted by rain. Joint defending champions Partee Panthers narrowly defeated Signature Chiefs 4.5-2.5, as several games remained incomplete due to poor weather conditions.
Dilsher Grewal halved his singles before Capt IS Sohal won a huge 5&3 point for Seven Iron. With the singles yielding 1.5 points, Col Avnish Sharma and Capt GS Ghuman sealed the deal with a 3&2 win in the anchor game, while Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi and Ashray Gakhar held their opponents 1 up to seal the win on the final hole.
In the opening match of the day, The Mulligans recorded a convincing win over Fairway Comets. Angad Sangha and Bismad Singh started strong with 5&4 and 2 up singles wins. Angad Matharoo and APS Kahai followed up with a win on the last hole, almost putting their team through. The Pirates of the Greens saw their charge held by the Tee Birds as the latter won three of the five fourball games. Vivek Krishan and Gagan Sidhu, of Tee Birds, won 4&3 to record the biggest fourball win in the match after Karbir Dhaliwal and Yogeshwar Ghuman's 4&3 and 8&7 wins in the singles games. htc...
