Seven booked for attacking Zirakpur shop owner, friend
Mohali, Jan. 11 -- Seven persons have been booked for an attack on a confectionery shop owner and his friend in Zirakpur last month.
The victims have been identified as Raj Bahadur, who owns a shop near Bhabat Road in Zirakpur, and his friend Fateh. As per the complaint lodged by Bahadur's brother, Raj Kumar, around 2.30 pm on December 30, seven men had arrived at his brother's shop in a vehicle and opened attack with sharp-edged weapons and rods without any provocation.
The complainant said his brother tried to escape but the attackers chased him and struck him on the head with a beer bottle. After the attackers fled, he rushed the victims to a nearby hospital, from where they were later referred to the Phase-6 civil hospital in Mohali. The family decided to approach the police after they were discharged.
The case has been registered against three persons by name and their four unidentified accomplices under Sections 109 (attempt-to-murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 191(3) (rioting) and 190 (unlawful assembly) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said they are examining closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage from the area and questioning witnesses to identify the remaining accused....
