Self-defence session for female students at KB DAV Sr Sec School
Chandigarh, April 16 -- KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School organised a two-day self-defence and awareness program on April 13 and April 15, 2026, at BS Bahl Hall for girl students of Classes 6 to 10.
The sessions were conducted in batches by senior constables Balvinder Kaur and Pawan from Sector 9, associated with the Swayam team.
The initiative aimed to equip students with essential life skills related to personal safety, awareness, and self-confidence. Around 450 girls actively participated in demonstrations and discussions.
were trained in both psychological and physical aspects of self-defence, including confidence-building through voice, breaking the freeze response by shouting for help, and the importance of speaking up to trusted adults.
They were also informed about emergency helplines such as 112, 1091, 1098, and 1516, and guided on the "rule of honesty" to encourage transparency with parents and teachers.
Practical demonstrations covered techniques to escape dangerous situations by targeting week points and using simple methods like breaking a grip, use of everyday objects like pens and keys for self-defence, and precautions for digital and environmental safety.
