Sector 82 carjacking:2 arrested near IT City
Mohali, Dec. 17 -- Police arrested two men and recovered a car within 72 hours of a gunpoint carjacking near a private university in Sector 82.
The victim, a Karnataka resident working as a business manager in Mohali, told police the incident occurred at about 7.50 pm on Monday while he sat in his parked car near his PG. A man on a motorcycle (registration PB65AU4604) asked for an address; when the victim leaned out to respond the rider pulled out a pistol, threatened him and demanded the car.
Fearing for his life, the victim stepped out and the accused fled with the vehicle. The victim later filed a complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
Police said they laid checkpoints across Mohali and traced the vehicle to the area near IT City police station. Officers apprehended Vikram Masih and William Masih, both residents of Gurdaspur, near IT City. Both men have previous cases registered in Kharar and IT City, police added.
"We arrested the two suspects within 72 hours and recovered the stolen car. Teams acted on multiple leads and secured the vehicle near IT City police station," DSP Harsimran Bal said.
Investigators are questioning the arrested men and probing their movements before and after the incident. Police said they will produce the accused in court and pursue charges according to the law.
