Seat formula faces hurdle as RJD eyes 140
PATNA, Sept. 28 -- Though the seat-sharing arrangement in the Opposition INDIA bloc in Bihar or Grand Alliance (GA) has progressed in last few days, there are indications a final deal may take some time to be stitched as allies mainly the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress and Left parties are still to come on the same page over ratio of seats to be contested with certain hitches on adjustment of seats, people familiar with the matter in the GA said.
Insiders in the GA said that the RJD, being the senior most constituent in the coalition in Bihar for long, is firm on its stance of contesting at least 140 seats as against 144 seats contested in 2020 polls and wants the Congress to contest around 50 seats, taking the total number of seats to be shared among two major allies to 190 out of 243 seats and the rest should be allotted to other partners. htc...
