Haridwar, Sept. 22 -- A leopard,which had killed a 12-year-old girl in Najibabad, Uttar Pradesh, is suspected to have strayed into Uttarakhand border, with both the state forest departments, carrying out search operation to trap the leopard, officials in the know how of the matter said. On September 5, a leopard killed a 12-year old girl in Kandrawali village in Najibabad area of Bijnore. But in past few days,the leopard has been spotted in border area, entering Bhabhar area of Kotdwar in Pauri Garhwal. For past few days a leopard movement has been spotted by villagers of Haldukhata Talla and Mota Dhak ,which fall in Kotdwar. Some villagers had seen the leopard coming from Najibabad side into Bhabhar border area.Residents are quite scared as earlier there was no leopard movement noticed but since killing of a girl in Najibabad by leopard, on Uttarakhand side a leopard has been spotted within days of that incident," said Haldukhata resident and social activist Amit Negi. Block development committee member Rakesh Bhandari said villagers had initially heaved a sigh of releif after trapping of a male leopard on Tuesday morning , but now within days again another leopard sighting has scared the villagers....
